Making the Most of Every Opportunity: A Call to Wise and Purposeful Living

Hello and welcome to June! We are already approaching the halfway point of the year. Time moves quickly, and it never stands still. My prayer is that every season ahead will bring God’s favour, guidance, and opportunities into your life.

The Bible encourages us to live with purpose. It warns against drifting through life without direction. Time is precious, and every day presents opportunities that we should use wisely.

The Apostle Paul writes:

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15–16, NIV)

This passage reminds us that wise living requires intentional action. Opportunities do not remain available forever. Therefore, we must recognise them and respond with wisdom.

Today, many things compete for our attention. Social media, endless entertainment, unnecessary worries, and unprofitable relationships can quietly consume valuable time. As a result, people often become busy without being productive.

However, God calls believers to a different way of life. We must not simply follow the patterns of the world. Instead, we should live thoughtfully, make godly choices, and focus on what truly matters.

Take a moment to evaluate how you spend your time. Consider the activities, habits, and commitments that fill your days. Do they move you closer to God’s purpose?

This week, make a deliberate effort to use your time wisely. Serve others where you can. Encourage someone who is struggling. Share God’s truth. Pray faithfully. Invest in spiritual growth. Most importantly, seek to honour God in both the significant and ordinary moments of life.

Life moves quickly, and opportunities are limited. Yet God can use every day for His glory when we surrender it to Him. He is not only interested in how long we live. He also cares about how we live.

By walking in His wisdom and relying on His grace, we can turn ordinary days into meaningful opportunities that bear lasting fruit.

What time-waster do you need to let go of today?

Identify it, surrender it to God, and commit yourself to making the most of every opportunity He places before you.
