As believers, we must not allow difficult situations to rob us of the peace God has given us.
Challenges may confront us this week. Unexpected news may create uncertainty. Difficult circumstances may test our faith. However, we do not have to allow these situations to define our confidence.
Instead, let your knowledge of God define your response.
Biblical confidence does not primarily come from trusting our own ability. Rather, it comes from having confidence in God—knowing who He is, trusting what He has promised, and believing what He can do.
The Psalmist declares:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
— Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
David faced many dangers and uncertainties. Yet, he did not allow his circumstances to control his confidence.
Instead, David focused on God.
He knew that the Lord was his light in darkness. He knew that God was his salvation in times of danger. Furthermore, he knew that the Lord was the stronghold of his life.
Therefore, David could face uncertainty with confidence.
The greater our understanding of who God is, the stronger our confidence in God becomes. Our circumstances may change, but God’s character never changes.
God remains faithful. He remains present. He remains powerful.
David does not say that there will be nothing to fear.
Instead, he asks, “Whom shall I fear?”
Why?
Because David knew that God was greater than whatever stood before him.
Fear often magnifies the challenge. Faith, however, magnifies God.
So, when a difficult situation confronts you, ask yourself:
What am I saying to my challenge?
Are you allowing your circumstances to shape your words? Or are you allowing your confidence in God to shape your response?
If God is truly your light, your salvation, and your stronghold, let that truth shape your words today.
Instead of saying:
“Everything is going to go wrong.”
Choose faith-filled confidence and say:
“I may not know what the outcome will be, but I know who is with me.”
You may not control every circumstance. However, you can choose where you place your confidence.
When circumstances create fear, let your knowledge of God create confidence.
This week, do not allow fear to speak louder than faith. Remember who walks with you. Remember what God has promised. Most importantly, remember that the God who holds your future remains greater than every challenge you face.
Let your confidence rest in God.
May the Lord fill your heart with courage, strengthen your faith, and give you peace in every circumstance. Amen
